Some people worry that Teflon coated non-stick cookware might be dangerous to your health.

The truth is that Teflon only becomes a problem when it is heated in excess of 654 degrees Fahrenheit and none of us cook at home at that temperature.

At that excessively high temperature it emits a gas which can cause flu like symtoms in humans and even kill pet birds in some cases.

So for everyday cooking it is safe, though the non stick surface will wear off over time especially if is has been badly treated and poorly maintained.Good, useful and safe for everyday cooking.

However, if you want to completely avoid the risks use stainless steel, enamel coated pans or cast iron.
