Doing research on the history of Pyrex was very interesting and fun. I had no idea had as an unusual beginning. The need was very practical. But not most of the things invented by a very real and practical? I imagine that most housewives of that day were very frustrated with the kitchen at your disposal. They had a need to cook dishes that does not burst in the oven. really I can not imagine my life without Pyrex. I guess I use a Pyrex product every day. From measuring cups to bowls, storage containers and baking, all The items are on hand for use during food preparation, baking and storing food in the kitchen.
While writing and research history of the article, I thought of the durability of the basic Pyrex baking dish and a favorite dessert of my grandchildren, Poke jelly cake. It really shows the durability of the glassware. That the survival was the same thing that was attractive about the glass used in Pyrex baking software. You bake a cake, pour boiling gelatin on it and immediately put the plate in the refrigerator and never stop to wonder if the glass to crack or break due to extreme temperatures. Again and again it works. I know I assume that the Pyrex baking dish that I'm using is reliable.
As I said, Gelatin Poke Cake is a favorite of my grandchildren and recently became one for the St. Patrick's Day.
Gelatin Poke Cake
• Cake Poke lime jelly
• 1 box white cake mix
• 1 large box lime Jello
• 2 cups boiling water
• 1 small container of Cool Whip
1. Bake the cake in a 9×13 baking dish according Pyrex to package directions
2. Mix gelatin with 2 cups boiling water
3. Poke holes evenly over the cake with the handle of a wooden spoon
4. Pour gelatin over boiling and chilled immediately
5. After the cake cool completely cover the top with whipped cream

Chocolate strawberry Jello Poke Cake
1. Follow the basic instructions and substitute the following ingredients.
2. Use a cake mix chocolate and strawberry Jello
3. Cover top with whipped cream
4. Decorate top of cake with sliced fresh strawberries.
Hope you all enjoy of those desserts that are fun and easy to make. Jello Poke Cake is a perfect dessert for hot days. Let your imagination run with all combinations of flavors possible.
Another family favorite recipe is a cake from Apple Downloads. I found my favorite AllRecipes.com and changed a bit.
Cake Apple download
• 1 box Spice Cake Mix
• Can an apple pie filling
• 1 can cooked apples
• 1 tsp. Cinnamon
• ½ tsp. Nutmeg
• 1 tsp. Sugar
• ¾ cup butter
• 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Pour the can of apple pie filling and baked apples in a 9×13 Pyrex dish.
3. Mix cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar. Sprinkle over apples.
4. Pour the cake mix box at the top. Dot with butter and sprinkle with nuts.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour until top is golden brown and sides are bubbly. Warm with ice cream or whipped cream and serve.
