How to ask for cash as a gift?
My husband is doing his PhD and I am doing my Masters. Once started in May we are moving to France. We plan to sell everything and take with us only the essentials – clothes, kitchen utensils, etc. Your mother would want to throw a graduation / Bon voyage party and people will certainly bring gifts. How do we politely say "no space for a glass / frame, but if we want to give something, cash would be best. "Our time is very strict, as we will go out two days after the party. not written anything in the invitation, or transmit word of mouth? Or whatever it is, and donate the gifts the next day?
There is absolutely no way you can apply for cash without EXTREMELY sticky and offend the guests. Gifts in any not appear on any invitation, period. Accepting gifts given with grace, if you need to get rid of them later with the gift of them, so be it.
