Is the Keurig K Cup coffee a good deal?
I recently tested a sample of these and although the idea of making each hot drinks was almost immediately a great idea. Although, after looking at the price of individual packages of pods K Cup soon asked if I was a good deal. Has anyone had any experience with these machines? Are they a good deal?
My car dealer has one in the waiting room and I tried it once. Not as bad as many of canned coffees (Folger / Maxwell House), but not as good as freshly ground coffee. Even if the taste were so good, I would not buy it because it costs more than regular coffee and produces too much waste. It's like bottled water, you pay extra, create tons of garbage, and do not really get any benefit from it. If looking for comfort and a great cup of coffee, you can always buy a small French press that is enough for one cup. The coffee tastes better, the press is cheaper than any "one cup" machine, no space (all you need is a way to boil water), and the reasons can be composted to produce zero trash. A French press can also be used to make tea and froth the milk, so it has more value, even as a multi-purpose tool.
