Cast Iron Cookware Storage

What is the best way to clean and restore cookware cast iron?
I have some cast iron pieces, 13 in total. They have been treated rough and dry while in storage and rusted over, but before it is put in storage to be used and used and not cleaned properly and have a lot to build below the rust and such. Generations have passed and now I have, after all this. I would get everything out and clean and restore so you can use. What is the best way to clean and restore then seasoning. Thanks to all the answers in advance.
Would you like to sprinkle with heavy oven cleaner easy .. Then put them in black garbage bags tied securly to the sun .. You can leave 1 / 2 a day. (Wear gloves when doing this and do it outdoors, but not near the roof or plants.) This will cause the rust and coal. You may have to do it more than once. Do not be afraid to use a wire brush or even Girl Chore steel bars of soap when I wash them. After that you need to dry clean then season them thourghly .. Do you rub all over with salt and olive oil or cooking oil and put in the oven for 20 minutes at 250F. Stay in control at this time and add oil until pots are brilliant can take more than 20 minutes to get a gloss surface. As used .. Wash with mild detergent and brush off any stuck in food. Lubricate and spread with a paper towel and heat until it dries. You can do this in the oven or stove top. The more you use the pans no more stick to be developed.
