If you're like me, who struggles with the idea of what to serve your family at mealtimes. The day seems to recede me and I look at the clock .. 5:15! I have not even thought about dinner. With activities for children, housework, care of animals and who can forget "work" planning meals can be very challenging. Actually, it was a challenge until he met Gourmet to go. These mixes are easy to prepare food and require only one or two ingredients (eg cream cheese, canned tomatoes, sour cream, or water). Whenever I have something to do and now I have a use for leftover food that no seems to want to eat. These mixtures are delicious on their own when prepared as directed. I have been able to "change things a bit and gather my own variations in some popular mixtures.
Jambalaya (also known as the perfect on manufacturer)
This mixture, in my humble opinion, is better than the popular shop bought mixes. I love this mix when they have extra cooked chicken or chorizo. The mixture needs water, tomato sauce and a choice of meat. I would add at least two types meat when they do. It has a hot "spark" that my husband and I just love.
Cheese potato casserole
This is a great side dish that can be done a great breakfast food! It requires water, cheese and a can of Campbell soup cheese. My friend decided it would make a good breakfast dish to make for brunch. Well, she was right! She made the dish, mixed in some preparations of scrambled eggs and sausages cooked breakfast and topped it off with a little cheese melted on top. Guests at the brunch all I had to have the recipe! What a HIT!
Peanut Butter Cake
This delicious cake mix was introduced recently at the Gourmet To Go product line. It requires an 8-ounce block cream cheese 8 oz tub of whipped cream. Mix and pour into prepared crust (cracker Oreo, butter cookies). It requires no peanut butter. I like to make things a bit. I added about 5 cups crumbled Reeses to the mixture and put in a layer of chocolate. Talk about YUM!
I was able to put together some fast food for my family with these wonderful gourmet blends. However, I can not fail to mention that many of the other mainstream media that I could use to go gourmet. These food mixes make great gifts for friends, neighbors and teachers. Prepare mixtures of a few (Cold Weather chile, corn Fritter Hush Puppy Mix and Apple Spice Cake Mix) and are a perfect gift pack fall or holiday gift. At Christmas time, I like to build a small gift bag with some of my favorite cake and dessert mixes. I can get comments and questions about the products all year long!
