Bialetti Moka Coffee Maker

How to Brew with the Stove Top Bialetti Moka Express.

Adding  character to the kitchen stovetop, this polished-aluminum coffee pot features a unique octagon shape that was first designed in Italy in 1933. This smaller  unit makes three 2-ounce espresso cups of coffee in just 4 to 5 minutes and is extremely simple to use.

Just fill the lower chamber with water and the top filter with fine-ground coffee. Then place the pot on the stove and heat until the water boils. Through a pressurizing process, espresso moves to the upper chamber of the pot, ready to be served. Other highlights include a flip-up top with an easy-grip knob, a stay-cool black plastic handle, and a side-pour spout. When you have finished using the unit, wash it by hand with warm soapy water and rinse clean. Made in Italy, the espresso maker measures 4-1/4 inches wide by 6-1/2 inches tall but other sizes are available.

The heavy aluminium base absorbs heat directly through the base from the heat source on any type of cooker and only takes a short while to bring the pot to optimum heat so that the coffee can automatically percolate up into the top chamber leaving the coffee grounds in the base.  The correct amount of  water and coffee is indicated by markers or the rim of  the coffee holder and therefore no particular skill or judgement is required. A perfect cup of coffee every time.

If you like Cappuccino or Latte then buy the hand operated “frothy milk maker” (see below) as well.  Just place some hot milk in the matching aluminium container, replace the lid and with a few strokes of the moveable stopper you will have all the frothy milk you need.  Mix it with the espresso coffee from your Bialetti coffee maker to match your particular taste and strength and you will have the perfect Cappuccino or Latte to serve to your friends or to impress your date or partner with your sophisticated coffee making skills.

The coffee makers come in 2 cup versions up to 9 cup versions, varying designs and shapes and there are also models with electric warmers underneath and a Hot Chocolate maker!
