West Bend Bread Makers were some of earliest machines available and you can only now get machines in this “homely” style secondhand. Something of a retro trend!

Bread Making Machines have come on leaps and bounds in the last 20 years alongside computer development and programming of complex cooking, temperature and timing programmes is easier and more accurate.

The types and range of bread you can make in bread bakers has also increased and most machines will make separately dough for rolls and pizzas. Homemade pizzas and fresh rolls are hard to beat.

One of our favourite West Bend Bread Maker Recipes is:

West Bend 41077 Just For Dinner Breadmaker-Potato Bacon Bread

½ cup water
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup bread flour
¼ cup instant potato mix
1 ½ tablespoons bacon bits
1 tablespoon dry milk
1 tablespoon sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
2 ¼ teaspoons bread machine yeast

1. Combine all ingredients in pan, in order listed, yeast last
2. Lower pan into machine, twist and lock in place
3. Choose Basic/Specialty Function, turn on machine to start
4. When machine is finished, carefully lift the pan out and let cool

Some machines now have twin blades for more effective kneading and trap doors that will release seeds and nuts into the mixture during the kneading process.

Almost all machines now have accurate timers and alarms which will allow you prepare the basic ingredients in five minutes before you go to bed, set the timers, and come down the next morning to the smell of freshly baked bread.

There is also a vast range of flours available and once you “know” your machine it is easy to experiment and invent your own recipies. Results from a good bread baker will equal or exceed shop bought bread and you always get it fresh!  More West Bend Bread Maker Recipes Further Down the Page!

West Bend 41077 Just For Dinner Breadmaker-Rye Bread

½ cup water
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup flour
1/3 cup medium rye flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon dry milk
¼ teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoons unsweetened cocoa
½ teaspoon caraway seed
2 ¼ teaspoons bread machine yeast

1. Combine all ingredients in bread pan, in order listed, yeast last
2. Lower pan into machine, twist to lock in place
3. Choose Basic/Specialty Setting, Start machine
4. When bread is finished, lift out and let cool before serving

½ cup milk
1 tablespoon butter
1 1/3 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 ¾ teaspoons bread machine yeast

1. Combine ingredients in pan in the order listed, yeast last
2. Lower pan into machine, twist and lock into place
3. Set to Basic/Specialty Setting, press start
4. When finished, let cool before serving
